Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueThese guys are the best in town!!! Rebuilt the trans on my truck in less then a wk, then gave them my toy car and that took a wk for a top end rebuild and and I am extremely happy!!!
I took my 09 Silverado to National on a Wednesday around 3pm. The following Monday morning my truck was ready for pick up. That is some mighty fast service! The entire experience has been very positive. I did have to return for an unrelated leak and they fixed it in less than a day for a very reasonable charge, then I had a leak that was from a faulty part in the rebuild. They fixed THAT in under a day and now my truck is going strong. My truck is better than new! Perry and his crew are all friendly, knowledgeable and fast to get to work. I will recommend National to ALL the people I encounter that need transmission work. If I ever need more transmission work I will return to National!
Honest as they come, good work and fair prices. What more do want want—friendly? Yes they are that too. My new go to place.
Honest. Fast. Quality work. Fair prices. Recommend.

I was having some issues with my 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Transmission (6L80). I called Perry at National Engine & Transmission and he was very helpful. He answered all my questions and provided all the necessary details I required. I'm not from Abilene, so I didn't know anyone locally to recommend a reputable shop.First, I had the shop run a diagnosis, to see if any codes were being thrown. Fortunately, everything with the transmission checked out as ok. After the diagnosis, they didn't try to push any unnecessary parts or service, they were very honest and helpful. In fact, during the transmission diagnosis they even found some other issues with the truck, brought them to my attention, and I was able to make the repairs myself. This definitely made me feel like I got all the bang for the buck of the diagnosis fee - the checked more than just the transmission! Since the transmission didn't require any service, I paid for the diagnosis and went on my way. After some thinking, even though I didn't NEED repairs right that moment, I had them quote me a price for a torque converter change. With the truck having 142k miles on the original torque converter/transmission, I wanted to do a little preventative maintenance, especially since I tow a travel trailer throughout the summer (and I've heard the stock converters are a little weak).I was extremely impressed with both their attention to detail and turnaround. Throughout the process, I made several phone calls and asked several questions about how it was going and details of the parts they were using, etc. They were very patient with my questions and kept me well informed. After only 2 days, the truck was complete and Perry called me to come pick it up. Unfortunately I was running late getting off work, and didn't think I'd make it to the shop before closing time. Perry was kind enough to stay behind after closing hours as I rushed over after work to pick the truck up. For anyone needing Engine or Transmission work, go see the guys at National Engine and Transmission. Honest, Reliable, Knowledgeable, and Timely!
Perry and Bill were very helpful in solving a sudden and challenging transmission problem. They kept me up-do-date about the repair status and I felt the price charged was fair and that they were honest. They even called to make sure that everything was working correctly during the drive home. Thanks guys!
